So I could probably write a hundred excuses for my long absence from posting but the fact of the matter is we had a horrible computer virus(Scott's fault this time) and I took the opportunity to stay away from the computer and enjoy the end of the summer with my kids. Plus there was the part where Grace started biting again and I worried constantly about sending her to school to bite some unsuspecting child. Oh and the part where I worried constantly about sending Grace to school when her speech is very hard to understand, how would she make friends, how would she tell others her wants and needs, how would she sing the songs, you know your basic worries. Anyway, in between the worrying we had a nice end of the summer, we spent time at parks and time playing games, oh Candy land you take away every brain cell I have left, and time just playing in our yard. I was ready for the kids to go back to school, but not ready, I really enjoyed having them around.
Grace's first day of school was last Wednesday, and if you asked if she was going to be a good girl at school she'd say no biting, I was really hoping the other parents wouldn't hear that! We took she and J, they go to the same pre-school but in different classes. Scott took J to his room and I took Grace. I lead her in to class got her name tag and told her she could pick any chair to sit in. Once she was sitting she looked terrified! This girl has been to the class 100's of times and had been carting her backpack around in preparation for this day for weeks, but she just looked small and scared. I started tearing up as I left. Yes, this is my fifth child I was leaving and I was going to have free time for the first time in 10 YEARS and I cried, and they weren't tears of joy. I spent the entire two hours trying to kill time and worrying about Grace. When I went to pick her up she ran at me arms out wide saying Mommy, and she said she had fun, and the biggest news, NO BITING!
Grace went back to school yesterday and had another great day, and Scott and I went out to breakfast, alone, as in without kids. People my life has changed so much in the past week that I walk around in a bit of a stupor wondering what is going on. I have two kids home with me, I haven't had just two kids since well, since I just had two kids and it feels odd! I have four free hours, to myself, to do whatever I want every week, and when I'm out I feel so odd. It's not like I never go anywhere without my kids, but I used to having at least three of them with me all the time. It's a whole new world and I 'm struggling to get my bearings.
Things at our house are a bit harried this week as we are leaving in 10 days for a big trip to San Diego and Anaheim. This is my 40th birthday present and we are excited. Grace is set to meet "Rella" and Bickey and any other princess she can get to. J just wants to seen Mickey and ride the rides. The rest of the boys want to see and do it all. I can't wait to share the pictures.
